Early Spring 2022
When spring starts to come, I want to devour it. To grab a straw and suck every last drop of it up as quickly as I can. It’s a thirst that desperately needs to be quenched, a promise we’ve been waiting for a sip of all winter long.
There are dormant parts of me until one day, I wake up, and all my senses and synapses are alive. Suddenly, I am consumed with how intoxicating my neighbor’s orange blossoms smell that halt me in my steps out the door. How good the acidity of citrus juice feels on sleeping tastebuds. And the sunshine – I live for the sunshine. I have been hangry for months to ease the tension in my shoulders from the chill in the air. So when the warmth comes that is finally warm enough to defrost my feelings, I feel more me again.
Early Spring feels like everything around and within me is awakening with possibility. It’s the first bloom of the year and a hint at the fruition to come that we’ve been waiting, and wintering, for.
